Title: Ditch the Patient Questionnaire: How Imaging AI Could Redefine Risk Assessment in Breast Cancer Screening

Traditional breast cancer risk models have informed screening and prevention for decades, yet their real-world reach remains limited. Many depend on complete and accurate family history, reproductive and hormonal information, prior biopsy findings, breast density, or genetic data. This is information that may be difficult to collect consistently and integrate into routine screening workflows.
Emerging artificial intelligence models can derive risk information directly, or nearly directly, from routine mammography images. This approach may make risk assessment more scalable and could help screening programs move from uniform, age-based pathways toward more personalized strategies for screening, supplemental imaging, prevention and even beyond earlier diagnosis of the primary target disease. Mammography image-based AI could be a platform for opportunistic identification of other health concerns, including cardiovascular risk signaled by breast arterial calcifications.
In this webinar, experts will examine the evolution and limitations of established breast cancer risk models; review evidence supporting mammography-based AI risk prediction, including recent findings from the Karolinska Institute; compare emerging technologies and regulatory developments in the United States and Europe; and consider the clinical, operational, and evidentiary requirements for translating AI-derived risk into better breast cancer detection strategies.
